The History of the Reed Team - Passion for Hilton Head Island Real Estate

To this day, Charlie Reed remembers the day in 1980 when he arrived on Hilton Head Island with his wife, Sandra, and young son, Andy. Thinking he was on a short furlough from his job as a pilot for Braniff International Airways, he decided to take an interim job selling real estate until the airline was up and running again. That did not happen! Lured by the beautiful beaches on the Atlantic Ocean, serene tidal marshes and lush golf courses, Charlie thought he was in paradise. Even now when he drives over the bridge onto Hilton Head Island he feels the same way.

In 1986, Charlie founded Charter I Realty & Marketing. He laughs when he thinks about how he sat in the corner on a crate because his secretary needed the only desk for her typewriter. From those humble beginnings, Charter I Realty & Marketing has become one of the most recognized names in Hilton Head Island realty and throughout the South Carolina Low Country ranking as the #1 agency on Hilton Head Island.

Charlie's son, Andy, joined the company in 1997 followed by his nephews Tom in 2000 and Richard in 2005. Check out the information below for a quick introduction to each member of The Reed Team.

	Andy Reed moved to Hilton Head in 1980 and graduated from Hilton Head High in 1989. He played basketball for Virginia Tech and graduated in 1994. He began his business career as a stock broker in North Carolina, then entered the banking industry in Virginia. 	Charlie Reed was born and raised in middle Tennessee. He served in the Marine Corps (1966 to 1968), graduated from Middle Tennessee State University, and became a pilot for Braniff International Airways. Charlie moved to Hilton Head in 1980 as a real estate agent for Lighthouse Realty before founding Charter I Realty and Marketing in 1986, which has become the NUMBER ONE real estate company on Hilton Head Island. charlie@explorehhi.com 843.785.4460
	Rich Reed was raised in middle Tennessee and graduated the University of Tennessee in 1993. He subsequently received a graduate degree in Developmental Psychology from Vanderbilt University. He has been involved in both commercial and residential real estate since 1997, but moved to Hilton Head in 2001 where he has continued his real estate career. rich@explorehhi.com 843.368.3040
	Tom Reed was raised in middle Tennessee. At the University of Miami (Florida) he received a degree in Psychobiology/Chemistry followed by a law degree in 1996. He then joined one of Hilton Head Island’s premier law firms and became its head real estate attorney. He left the firm to join The Reed Team in 2000. Having sold over $100M in real estate, he is one of the few realtors in the area to have accomplished over $30M in sales during a single year. tom@explorehhi.com 843.816.4816
